Atomic Assessments Glossary of Terms
This glossary provides definitions for key terms used throughout Atomic Assessments. It is designed to help instructors, instructional designers, and administrators better understand the structure, features, and workflows behind creating, delivering, and reviewing assessments. Use this glossary as a reference when navigating assignment settings, item authoring, question types, and reporting tools.

Assignment |
In Atomic Assessments: the highest-level container instructors assign to students. It contains an Activity. |

Auto-scored |
Question types/features that are automatically graded by the system. |

Author API |
A Learnosity API for visual editing and content creation. |
|
Authoring / Authoring Tools |
Tools used to create Items, Questions, Features, Activities. |

Canvas Rubric |
Instructors can add a rubric from Canvas to grade an assignment. |
|
Check Answer button |
Allows students to check answers; disabled when 'Grade Server-Side' is selected. |

Content Manager |
The interface/tool for managing items, activities, uploads, etc. |

Create Gradebook Entry |
Assignment setting that creates a gradebook entry in the LMS. |

Data Table |
Table allowing variable substitution for parametrized questions. |

Ability to duplicate an assignment/activity without affecting the original. |

Embedded Assignment |
Embedding the assignment into a Canvas page. |

Feature |
