This guide explains how to manage versions, publish and import course content, and use content keys within Atomic Assessments. Reference the screenshots for clarity on each step.
1. Accessing the Versions Menu
To view and manage course versions:
•Go to Atomic Assessments within your course.
•Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top-right corner.
•Select Content Manager.
•Navigate to the Versions tab.
2. Key for Course Copy
The Key for Course Copy section generates a unique key that can be used to duplicate the entire course’s Atomic Assessments content (activities, items, tags, etc.).
•The key must be used within the same Canvas account/subdomain.
•When used, it creates a full copy of the content from the source course.
3. Publishing a Version
To preserve a snapshot of your current content for future use or transfer:
•Click Publish Version.
•This creates a versioned backup of the course’s Atomic Assessments content, including assignments and item banks.
•Wait for the spinning wheel (indicating “pending”) to complete before taking further action.
Once published, this version appears under Published Versions with a timestamp and version key.

4. Importing a Version
Under the Imported Versions section, you’ll see any previously imported content bundles. To import a version:
•Click the Import Version button.
•You’ll be prompted to either:
•Import all content, or
•Select content to import (recommended if only certain assignments are needed).
•You may also choose whether to:
•Update (overwrite) existing content, or
•Only import new items.
5. Version Status and Timestamps
•Imported Versions include a name, import status, and import date.
•All version operations (importing or publishing) will show a status (e.g., “completed”) once finished. If still processing, a spinner will appear.
•After selecting, click Select Assignments to choose specific ones for import.
•Allow the content transfer to fully complete before using the content in your course.

This process is ideal for managing shared banks across departments, copying finalized content between terms, or versioning curriculum changes for future audits or use.
