Kaltura’s integration with Atomic Assessments allows you to embed rich media directly into assessment question, and content areas using the Rich Content Editor (RCE). This makes it easy to include video content, webcam recordings, or video quizzes.
Using Kaltura in Atomic Assessments
1. Launching the Kaltura Media Tool
Anywhere in Atomic Assessments where the Rich Content Editor (RCE) appears (e.g., question stems, passages, instructions), you can insert Kaltura media.
Look for the Kaltura icon in the RCE toolbar, as shown below:
Clicking this icon will open the Kaltura Media window.

2. Navigating the Kaltura Media Window
After clicking the Kaltura button, a modal will appear showing the “My Media” section. This contains all the videos you’ve already uploaded to your Kaltura account.
You will also see an “Add New” button in the top-right corner.
From here, you can:
•Upload a new video file from your device
•Use Express Capture to record a video directly from your webcam
•Create a Video Quiz, which allows you to add interactive questions at specific timepoints in the video

3. Embedding a Video
To embed an existing video:
1.Hover over the video you want to embed.
2.Click the Embed button on the right.
To change embed settings (like max embed size), click the gear icon before embedding.

4. Adding Interactive Video Quizzes
Kaltura Video Quizzes allow you to:
•Insert multiple-choice, true/false, open-ended, or reflection questions directly into the video timeline
•Gauge student understanding as they watch content
To create a video quiz:
1.Click Add New > Video Quiz
2.Select an existing video or upload a new one
3.Use the quiz editor to add timestamped questions
By using Kaltura within Atomic Assessments, instructors can deliver multimedia-rich experiences that enhance instruction and assessment in one seamless flow.
