How to Add a Start Screen, Exit Screen, or Resource Item to an Assessment

Use items (from the content manager) to create welcome messages, final notes, or reference materials within the assessment player.

Overview

Atomic Assessments now supports three content display options that enhance the assessment experience for students:

Start Screen: Appears before the first question. Ideal for instructions, context, or welcome messages.

Exit Screen: Appears after the final question. Useful for closing notes, next steps, or survey links.

Resource Item: Appears as a Resource button in the player. Perfect for reference documents like PDFs, spreadsheets, or formulas that students can view at any time.

Each of these is selected from your Content Manager or Item Bank, just like any other assessment item.

Before You Start

We recommend that you create your Start Screen, Exit Screen, or Resource Item first in the Content Manager or Item Bank so it’s ready to select during setup.
