Invigilator LTI Integration
This documentation covers the Invigilator LTI Launch integration only. This is distinct from the Invigilator Legacy integration. Both share the same configuration settings, but the LTI Launch version is the current recommended integration.
The Invigilator LTI integration within Atomic Assessments embeds proctoring directly into Atomic Assessments assignment via an LTI tool launch. When enabled, students are monitored through their camera, microphone, and screen before and during their exam session. Proctoring data is uploaded to Invigilator automatically upon exam submission.

Student Experience
Prior to taking an exam, the student will need to first log in to their Invigilator account at https://web.invigilator.app/login.
Step 1 — Assignment Landing Page
When a student opens a proctored assignment, they see a Proctored Assignment notice with the following information:
- Due date, point value, number of attempts used, and allowed attempts
- A message: "This assignment uses Invigilator proctoring. When you are ready to begin, click the button below to launch the proctoring session."
- An I'm Ready to Begin button to initiate the proctoring flow

Step 2 — Pre-Exam Requirements Check
After clicking I'm Ready to Begin, the Invigilator panel loads and checks that all requirements are met before the exam can start. Two checks are performed:
Permission Check Required
The student must grant camera and microphone access to the browser.
- Test Permissions — opens the browser permission prompt for camera and microphone
Invigilator Agent Detection
If the Enable web agent setting is on, the Invigilator Agent desktop application must be running for screen capture.
- Open Agent — opens the locally installed Agent
- Download Agent — links to the Agent download if not yet installed
The panel displays Waiting for requirements... until both checks pass. Once all requirements are satisfied, the student may proceed.

Step 3 — Active Proctoring Session
Once requirements are met, the invigilation session becomes active. The student sees:
- A dark blue banner at the top: "Invigilation Mode Active — Good luck for your assessment!"
- A live camera preview in the bottom-left, labelled Recording, confirming the camera feed is active
- An LMS Invigilation Instructions panel with the message: "Your exam is being invigilated through your LMS. Your camera and screen are being monitored."
- A warning: "Do not close this window until your exam is submitted!"
- An Agent Connected status indicator (bottom-left) showing the Agent version, e.g. v1.0.3
- A Start Exam button (top-right) to launch the actual exam content
The student should click Start Exam to begin.
Step 4 — Exam Submission & Data Upload
When the student submits their exam (or the LMS ends the session), a confirmation dialog appears from weblti.invigilator.app:
"The LMS is requesting to end your exam. Do you want to end your invigilation session and upload your data?"
- OK — confirms submission, ends the invigilation session, and begins uploading proctoring data
- Cancel — dismisses the dialog without ending the session
After the student clicks OK, the page displays:
"Uploading proctoring data… Please wait and do not close this window."
The student must remain on the page until the upload is complete. When completed, the student can safely navigate away from the assignment.
