Admins can enable or disable student authentication (OAuth) for Atomic Discussions. When enabled, students must authorize the tool to send notifications on their behalf. Notifications will not be sent unless this setting is enabled or a global instance token is configured. If an application instance token is available, notifications can still be sent even if OAuth is disabled for individual students.

Setting location: Atomic Discussions course navigation menu > Triple Dot menu > Admin Settings > Enable Student OAuth

  • If OAuth is enabled, students will be prompted to authorize on their next tool launch.
  • Once authenticated, tokens will be stored per user.
