Troubleshooting: Atomic Search Brightspace Error: Could Not Find Accounts Or Courses To Search

This error typically indicates a role-mapping issue between Brightspace and Atomic Search. In most cases, Brightspace roles are configured in the IMS Configuration, but those same roles have not been added to Atomic Search Admin Settings.

Root Cause

Atomic Search relies on role information passed from Brightspace via IMS configuration to determine which users can access and search courses. If:

  • Roles are defined in Brightspace IMS Configuration, but

  • Those same roles are not configured in Atomic Search Admin Settings

Atomic Search will be unable to identify valid accounts or courses, resulting in this error.

Important Notes

  • The roles entered in Atomic Search must match the roles defined in Brightspace IMS Configuration.

  • If a role exists in Brightspace but is missing from Atomic Search Admin Settings, users with that role may be unable to search courses.

If the Issue Persists

If the error continues after verifying and saving role settings, the issue may be related to:

  • An expired or invalid authentication token

  • A permissions or authorization problem

In these cases, re-authentication may be required.
