Troubleshooting the “There are issues with your installation” Banner in Atomic Search

If you see a banner in Atomic Search that reads: “There are issues with your installation”, this means Atomic Search is unable to connect properly with your LMS due to permission or integration issues. Below are the steps to resolve this issue:

 

Note: Keep in mind that getting this banner doesn't mean search is broken. After completing the below steps (re-authing) please allow up to 24 hours for the banner to go away/resolve.

📘 For Canvas Customers

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Log in to your Canvas instance as an admin.

2. In the Account-level navigation, click Search.

3. In the top-right corner, click the triple dot menu.

4. Select Manage Integrations.

5. Click Re-Auth with Canvas and follow the on-screen instructions.

6. Once completed, ensure that the following permissions/scopes are applied:

Scope Description

Announcements - view Retrieve announcement content for indexing

Course Content - view Retrieve course content for indexing

Courses - view list List the courses in an account for indexing

Discussions - view, moderate Retrieve and optionally moderate discussions (moderate required only if discussion post indexing is enabled)

Manage Assignments and Quizzes - edit Retrieve quiz content for indexing

Manage LTI -(Only needed for 1.1 installations) 

Question banks - view and link Retrieve quiz/question content for indexing

Users - view list Identify user enrollments and roles to apply appropriate search access

 

7. After you’ve verified the scopes, please reach out to Atomic Jolt support and let us know you’ve completed the process.

📘For Brightspace / D2L Customers

 Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Log in to your D2L instance as a root-level admin.

2. Click the Admin Tools gear icon.

3. Select Manage Extensibility.

4. Choose OAuth 2.0.

5. Locate the OAuth App for Atomic Search.

6. Click Edit and ensure the following scopes are applied:

content:file:read,write

content:modules:readonly

content:toc:read

content:topics:manage,read,readonly

core:*:*

discussions:forums:readonly,manage

discussions:topics:readonly,manage

managefiles:files:read

managefiles:folders:read

organizations:organization:read

quizzing:quizzes:read,write

surveys:surveys:read,update

 

7. Save changes and proceed with re-authorization:

•Navigate to the root level (6606).

•Click Atomic Search in the navbar.

•Open the triple dot menu.

•Scroll down and select Set up content indexing.
