Assessment Outcomes Report

The Assessment Outcomes Report provides a detailed view of student performance across multiple levels of tag based outcomes for a single assessment.

This report replaces the previous version, which displayed only a single level of outcome scores, offering educators a more flexible and informative way to evaluate learning progress.

Accessing the Report

To open the Outcomes Report:

  1. Navigate to the Reports section of any assessment.
  2. Click on the Outcomes tab.

The report displays data for all students in the course, showing their performance against outcomes associated with the assessment's questions.

This is the default view when you enter the outcome report. Also displays a dropdown where you can choose to open a different level of the hierarchy (Topic - Level 2 or Sub-Topic Level 3), or choose to view subscores for a tag (Skill, Difficulty, etc.).

Report Overview

Each row in the report represents a student. Columns include:

  • Student Name – Displayed in the first column.
  • Assessment Score Total – The student’s overall score on the assessment.
  • Outcome Scores – One column per outcome or tag, showing the percentage of aligned questions answered correctly.

Outcome Headers

  • Outcome names are shown at the top of the report.
  • If a name is too long, it will be truncated; you can hover over it to see the full name in a tooltip.

Summary Rows

Two summary rows appear directly below the column headers:

  • # of Questions – The number of questions aligned with each outcome or tag.
  • Average – The average percent correct for each outcome or tag across all students.

Student Outcome Scores

In each student row, the outcome or tag score is calculated as the percentage of correctly answered questions aligned with that outcome or tag.

Interactive Features

Highlight Scores by Cut Score

Figure 2 - Single assessment outcomes report with highlighted scores. Shows the ability to highlight outcome scores above or below a specified cut score.

You can highlight outcome scores to quickly spot areas of strength or concern:

  • Use the dropdown to set a cut score (e.g., 70%).
Choose whether to highlight scores above or below the selected threshold.
  • Your cut score preferences are remembered and will apply across assessments.

Expand or Collapse Outcome Hierarchy

Outcomes are organized in a hierarchy (e.g., Subject > Topic > Sub-topic). You can:

  • Click an outcome name to expand or collapse its child outcomes.
  • Up to four levels of the outcome hierarchy can be expanded.
  • By default, only the top level (Subject) is shown.

Select Outcome Levels or Tags

Use the dropdown menu to customize the columns shown in the report:

  • Select an Outcome Level – Displays all outcomes at the chosen level. Higher-level outcomes are hidden, but you can expand child outcomes from there.
  • Select a Tag Type – Displays all tags (e.g., Skill, Case, Analysis, Prediction) used to label questions in the assessment.

When viewing tag data:

  • Each column represents a tag value (e.g., a specific skill).
  • Each cell shows the percent correct for questions labeled with that tag.

Expand Hierarchies by Tag

Once a tag type is selected:

  • You can expand outcome hierarchies within each tag by clicking on tag headings.
  • Use the Expand all checkbox to expand all levels under the current outcome level or tag type.
