This guide will walk you through the steps to enable and use Integrity Advocate for proctoring with Atomic Assessments in your D2L (Brightspace) environment.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1.Log in to Your D2L Instance
•Navigate to your institution’s D2L login page and sign in using your credentials.
2.Select the Desired Course
•Once logged in, click on the course you want to enable proctoring for.
•For example, if you are working with the “Atomic Assessments Demo” course, click on that course.
3.Navigate to Integrity Advocate
•Scroll down the course menu and locate Integrity Advocate 1.3.
4.Click on Activities and Expand the Content Section
•Click to expand the Content section under Integrity Advocate.
5.Enable Integrity Advocate
•In the settings menu, ensure the checkbox for Enable Integrity Advocate is selected.
•Additionally, enable the Use Grade Item checkbox if grading needs to integrate with your grade book.
6.Select Proctoring Rules
•Click on Select Rules and choose your preferred proctoring settings. These rules govern how Integrity Advocate will monitor the assessment.
7.Add the Assessment to the Content List
•Before the quiz or assessment can appear in the Content list, it must first be embedded as an Existing Activity within a module in your course.
•Go to the appropriate module in your course, click Existing Activities, and select Atomic Assessments, then Choose Existing Assessment, then Insert.
8.Test the Setup
•To verify that the proctoring setup is functioning correctly, you can:
•Impersonate a User (a feature in D2L allowing you to simulate a student’s experience).
•Or have an actual student start the exam.
9.Student Experience
•When the student (or impersonated user) begins the exam, they will encounter Integrity Advocate’s onboarding screens.
•The process includes taking a picture, scanning their ID, and other steps based on the selected rules.
Key Considerations
•Embedding Assessments: Ensure assessments are properly embedded in the course content as existing activities before they can appear in the Content list.
•Testing Functionality: Always test the setup to confirm the desired Integrity Advocate workflows are active before assigning the assessment to students.
•Proctoring Rules: Tailor the proctoring settings based on the level of security and verification required for your assessment.
By following these steps, you can successfully integrate Integrity Advocate with Atomic Assessments in Brightspace from D2L and provide a secure proctoring experience for your students. For additional support, contact your LMS administrator or Atomic Jolt’s support team.
