Atomic Discussions supports notifications for new replies and reported messages via Canvas Inbox messages.

Notifications for Replies

Notifications can be sent to both students and instructors for new replies in a threaded discussion.
  • Includes:
    • Name of the replier
    • Original post prompt
    • Original post content
    • Reply content
    • A direct link to view the discussion in Atomic Discussions
  • Requires OAuth authorization the first time the user accesses Atomic Discussions or requires a global institution token for the account.

Note: If OAuth authorization is not completed, users will not receive notifications for new replies.

Reported Comments

Students can report inappropriate comments by clicking on the Report button underneath a comment. Reporting a comment will notify the teacher in the Canvas inbox to address.

Teachers will have the ability to mark a reported comment as “Mark as not profane” or to hide the comment. If a comment is hidden the comment will show [Comment has been removed due to a breach of code of conduct.] in the discussion.

Comments can automatically be flagged as inappropriate based on the profanity dictionary set in the Atomic Discussions Admin Settings
